The date of 5th October 2011 will be remembered in history as this is the day when union HRD Minister Kapil Sibal launched the most economical computing device ever in Indian History called the " Aakash Tablet".The prototype of Aakash tablet PC was made public in the month of july back in 2010 and the final device was officially launched on 5th October 2011.

There is much talk in the Internet and electronic media that the prototype displayed last year was not even 1 percent of the final product.but despite all the contradictions the product look good and the most important thing is that it is available at affordable price of Rs 1750/-.So with this price tag it is surely the Cheapest Tablet PC in the world.Aakash Tablet PC is made jointly by UK nased company called Datawind in collaboration with  IIT`s .

The much awaited and much economical Aakash Tablet PC is launched on 5th October 2011 by the Union HRD Minister Mr Kapil Sibal .Everyone on the internet is searching for "Where to Buy Aakash Tablet PC" or "How to Buy the Aakash Tablet PC" but no one is getting the correct solution for their questions.Let us look at the point given below and find the answers to the Questions mentioned above.


  • Release Date of Aakash Tablet PC is 5th October 2011.Earlier it was known by other name called Sakshat tablet but now it is Renamed as "Aakash Tablet"
  • It is developed by British company named Datawind.
  • In the First phase the tablet PC is available only for Post Secondary students through National Mission of Education through ICT (NME-ICT).The Government had already distributed the 1,00,000 units at a price of Rs 2250/- per unit to students across the various Indian Universities including the IIT`s for a trail basis.
  • Now After connecting the 1000 institutes with high speed wi-fi enabled networks and free online couses the government will now distribute 10 million devices to secondary students.The Government is acquiring theses 10 million tablets at a price of Rs 1750/- to which the manufacturer Datawind has firmly agreed.
  • Datawind the manufacturer of Aakash Tablet will release its commercial version named "Ubislate" in starting November but it is priced at Rs 2999/- as there are some additional features in this commercial version.
  •  Aakash Tablet PC takes five and a half years in its manufacturing process.In 2010, a prototype of Aakash called "Sakshat Tablet" was released.
Although there is no information released by Government of India whether the device will be sold in the market but in the starting phase it will be sold in schools and Universities.

Aakash Tablet PC World`s Cheapest ever Tablet PC at 35 USD Only





After much await the Government of India has finally launched today the Worlds Cheapest ever Tablet PC branded as "Aakash".The Initial Price that is set for the Aakash Tablet PC is 35 $.In its first phase the government is Acquiring One lakh units of Tablet PC from the product manufacturer Datawind at Rs 2250/-. Although the government of India has decided to put the price of Aakash Tablet PC at Rs 1750/- per unit..The reason for developing this product at such a cheap price to increase computer Literacy in India.Although the number of Internet users have increased by 15 million in the last ten years but still only 8 % of Indian Population is using the Internet as compared to 40 % in the "Republic of China"

Although there is a much criticism of Union HRD Minister Mr Kapil Sibal in the past few months over the issues related to Swami Ramdev and Anti corruption Crusader Anna Hazare but he give the gift of the Decade to the Students that can open the IT arena  to vast population of the country.

Aakash Tablet PC is joint venture of Government of India and British Company Datawind.In the first phase the government has decided to pick 100000 units of "Aakash Tablet PC" from the Datawind before being made available to millions of students.The Tablet PC will be commercially available in November at a price of Rs 2999/-

The market of tablet PC is growing at a rapid rate with Amazon Launching Kindle Fire last week at a price of $ 199 that shook the Tablet PC global market and poses a serious threat to Apple`s Ipad but market observers believe that India`s " Aakash Tablet " will pose even greater threat to all the Tablet PC brands because it is the cheapest ever and is powered by Google`s Operating System "Android"
